Cookie policy

The short version: this website currently sets no cookies at all — and we tell you exactly what we store locally instead.

Draft pending legal review.

1. What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser, typically to remember sessions or preferences — and, on many sites, to track you. Local storage is a similar browser mechanism that stores data on your device only; unlike cookies, it is not automatically sent to any server with each request.

2. What this website actually uses

Today, thehumanbehind.com sets zero HTTP cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind. We only use two local storage entries, both strictly necessary and stored on your device only:

Name Type Purpose Duration Category
thb-consent-v1 Local storage Remembers your cookie choices so we do not ask again. Until you delete it Necessary
thb-lang-v1 Local storage Remembers your language choice (English/Spanish) so the language suggestion does not reappear. Until you delete it Necessary

Neither entry identifies you, leaves your device or is shared with anyone.

3. Categories

  • Necessary — always active: your language and your consent choice. Without them the site cannot respect your preferences.
  • Analyticsnot in use. The switch exists in the settings panel so your choice is already recorded if we ever add privacy-respectful analytics. If that happens, we will update this table first.
  • Marketingnot in use, and we have no plans to use it.

4. Managing your choice

You can review or change your choice at any time from the cookie settings panel:

You can also clear the entries directly from your browser (site data settings). Doing so simply shows the consent banner again on your next visit.

5. The registry platform

The registry platform at platform.thehumanbehind.com uses strictly necessary, HttpOnly session cookies so you can stay signed in securely. They are never used for tracking or advertising. How sessions are protected is explained on the security page.

6. Changes

If we ever add a cookie or storage entry, we will update this policy and the table above before it goes live, and — where consent is required — ask you first. Transparency here is not a legal formality; it is the whole point of this project.
